Information You Enter
A name, phone number, or address submitted through a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. This site does not retain a copy of those search entries. If you contact us, we receive the details in your message and use them to answer it.
Routine Technical Logs
The host may record standard technical details such as an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and time stamps. These logs are reviewed in aggregate for site health and readership patterns. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How the Information Is Used
We use the limited information for ordinary operations, problem fixing, traffic counts, and page improvements. Cheshire Residents Directory does not sell visitor lists or create individual user profiles.
Records Portals and Other Links
Pages may link to the Cheshire Town Clerk land-record portal, the Assessor property search, the Connecticut Judicial Branch, library collections, Connecticut archives and State Library resources, and sponsored search tools. Each outside service has its own privacy policy and controls what it receives. Those outside policies govern the information submitted there, including information sent to a sponsored provider.
Who May Receive It
Hosting and support vendors may process the server logs needed to run the pages. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Disclosure outside those service relationships occurs only when valid legal process requires it.
Security and Retention
The pages use an encrypted connection, and technical logs are kept only for as long as the purposes above require. Because there are no accounts here, this site does not hold a password or user profile that can be exposed through an account breach.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor has sent information to the contact mailbox, please notify us so we can remove it.
Connecticut Privacy Choices
Where it applies, the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA), Public Act 22-15, codified at CGS §§42-515 et seq., provides covered individuals with access, correction, deletion, and certain opt-out rights concerning data held by covered businesses. Coverage, publicly available information, and statutory exemptions can limit a request. Because this site keeps very little, a request normally means checking the contact mailbox and applicable server logs. Use the Contact page to ask.
Records maintained by Cheshire or another Connecticut public agency are outside this site's control. The Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, CGS §§1-200 through 1-242, especially §§1-210 and 1-212, addresses access and copies for nonexempt agency records, while confidentiality programs and other statutes can restrict disclosure. Requests about a Town Clerk, voter, vital, court, or protected-address record must go to its custodian, including the Safe at Home program or Connecticut voter privacy program when those protections are involved.
